at home | Houston Family Portrait Photographer

As a photographer, you never know what you’re going to get when you come into a client’s home. Will the light be good? Will they feel comfortable? What is their decor like?

When I came to visit this family, I was ellated. I was greeted by this vibrant boy who was all smiles and ready to help me find my way around. He took me upstairs, showed me his awesome room and asked if he could help me. So sweet:)We started in his room, his comfort zone. We jumped on the bed (don’t worry, I told him it was a special occasion!) and read books!

Then, we ventured downstairs and loved on his new baby brother (who is just the cutest little guy, aside from mine, of course). Mom’s bedroom is styled so perfectly to my taste: apothecary jars, antiques; light colors–I was in love with her style! So we jumped on the bed and captured the love between these two.

It’s not often that I am invited to photograph in someone’s home. But when I am, boy am I blessed! I get to see people in their own element; relaxed, carefree. It’s amazing what you see when everyone is comfortable. It’s amazing how your kids respond when I ask them to show me their things, their rooms, their lives. If you’ve never thought of photographing in your home, I suggest that you do! Your people are never more real than when they are in your nest, your nurturing place! Take a look…
