Greater Houston Area Children and Family Photography | Christie Lacy bio picture

Come in and stay a while :)

Hi! I'm Christie. I'm married (Jerome) and mama to 3 beautiful kiddos (8, 6 & 3). They keep me busy, but they keep me young. I love seeing the world through their eyes, learning about things I'd forgotten about since I was their ages. I love that they find beauty in the smallest things. I love their wonderment and awe, their many moods and their desire to know everything they can.

I wasn't a photographer before my children. I didn't grow up using my father's Pentax film camera. I think I got a little camera for one of my birthdays, but probably lost it somewhere along the way. If that's a story you were expecting to hear, I'm sorry to dissappoint!

Photography was something that I grew into as my desire to freeze in time everything that these wonderful blessings embraced. From the way my middle one closes his eyes in bliss every time he eats (he has a real love for tasty foods), to capturing the boys playing in mud, and seeing baby girl's imagination come to life when she dons her princess garb. As I've seen with my now 8 year old, time passes way too swiftly. The things that they do today, will be gone tomorrow, all except for the photographs.

My goal for your session is to help you freeze your moments. Your child's stages of life, their joy, their imagination, and even the temper tantrums. So whether you want to hop out on the golf course, have a baking cookies session, or wander around in the park, let's capture your real life moments. Yes, my goal is to capture these moments so that you'll have them to remember back on. But more importantly, my goal is to capture them for your children to look back on. Do this for you, but more importantly, do it for them.

hitched | Houston Family and Child Photographer

It’s very rare that I say yes to events such as these. It’s not that I don’t love them. I really do, and infact, at one point thought that this was where I wanted to be with my photography. However, a plan was laid out and so here I am focusing on children and families.

But, I said yes to this one. When her sister-in-law mentioned it to me, I’m sure I had a look on my face that said no way. But after finding out that it was going to be a special and intimate wedding day, I quickly said yes.

I am so blessed to be included in such wonderful and memorable moments by my clients. Moments that they’ll remember forever. Moments that are meaningful. And the wedding celebration of this family is no different.

Here is a quick sneak peek before I head out of town. I am pretty sure I’ll be doing another one once I return ;)

Congratulations, S family!

One | Houston Children’s Birthday Photographer

I remember when each of my children turned one. With Darius (he’s our first), we went all out. We invited everyone and anyone. We layed out a huge spread and had a fantastic party. With Andre (our middle), his party was half as big. We invited close friends and family members. Still had a great time, but it was a little more intimate. When Juliana (our third and final), turned one, it was just us. I’ve learned that the best parties are not the big huge extravagant ones. They’re the ones that you celebrate with those closest to you; the most important ones.

This sweet girl is about to turn one. Isn’t she a doll? I mean, she has the perfect face of a doll. We ventured out to a park downtown. I’d never been there and neither had she. It was a mid day shoot with lots of bright sun out and I hadn’t shot a one year old in quite some time. I had been praying and wishing that I still had it.

It was so nice spending the warm afternoon outside beneath the trees and the buzzing people. I think that Miss O gave me some great shots that her parents will surely cherish! Take a peek:

Snow Day | Cypress Family Photography

I was so mad about the weather that day. We’d just enjoyed a beautiful, balmy, 70F sunny day. But as we all know, Houston’s weather is never predictable. I had to go to the grocery store and had to troop out into the sleet with my 3 year old. It was cold. The roads were crazy. I was not happy. And then, the snow came.

The last time it snowed, the kids were stuck in school and I vowed that I would take them out of school if it snowed again. Don’t hate. I grew up in Northern Arizona where it snowed every winter and we’d walk the streets during the bright & quiet nights having snow ball fights. I remember one year in particular. My mom had planned to take a few friends and I out of town for my birthday. But then it snowed 6 inches during the night. In a small town, there was only one place to be and it was the local elementary school. There were huge hills that we could take our makeshift sleds (either a trash bag or a garbage can lid) and sled to our hear’s desire. So, yes. I was going to take my kids out of school to make a memory for them.

But I didn’t have to :) The snow started around 4:30 and lasted only a short while. And, as mad as I was about the cold weather, I took them outside and we made memories :)
