love is all you need | Cypress Family Photographer

Nailing down a date for a session can be hard. Making sure everyone is on the same page, that one person or another doesn’t have something going on…It can be even harder when one person or another lives out of town. We’d initially thought we could do this session last year during the Thanksgiving week, but one thing or another came up and, well, it just didn’t happen. But we were not going to let that get in the way this year. No Way, Jose. And another thing we weren’t going to let get in the way? The weather. Freezing cold, super fast wind, frost bite kind of weather? Well, you’d never know in the photos below that this is exactly the kind of weather we had :)

I love all this love. I mean look at them? They are freezing their booties off and yet no one is crabby or fighting…if anything, cold weather makes you want to huddle together and lean on each other for warmth, right? Somehow, I think this family huddles together, even when it isn’t 40F outside…

All in a Life’s Work | Cypress Family Photographer

“It’s just a sweet, sweet time,” she said. She was referring to this time, right now. All of her girls are grown now and their relationships are different than ever before. She said she almost cherish’s it more because the time they spend together is a gift, limited but so very appreciated. How amazing…

I’m not there yet, but even in my relationships with my own children I can see how it changes. My 10 year old is less dependent on me, but when he wants to spend time with me, my heart leaps for joy. I don’t want to imagine them grown (I secretly hope they could stay so little forever), but if I have to, I want to imagine that our relationships will be so much like this family’s.

fun with family | Houston family photography

Whew! Christmas Season is in full affect here at CLP! Orders, galleries, cards galore…all of these keeping me on my toes. I wanted to take a quick minute to share, yet another, gorgeous family!

Mom loves bricks and so she had this great idea to incorporate her children’s school in the background of their family photos. An added plus was that the schools 3rd grade class upkeeps the butterfly garden! They were everywhere!

I hope these guys had a blast and a relaxed evening of fun with their family in their element :)

keepin’ it real | Houston Family Photographer

One of the things I love about photographing kids is that they keep it real. I mean, on a whole level that I, as an adult, forgot about. If they don’t feel it, they ain’t doin’ it. If they aren’t in the mood, well, you just gotta roll with the punches. I wish we adults were more like that sometimes. Sometimes. :)

I first met this momma when she called me to photograph her sweet son’s newborn pictures. We quickly hit it off and I’ve so enjoyed getting to know her and her family over the last few years. One of my favorite things about photographing people over and over is that they eventually become so relaxed that the anxiety and frustration over the idea of not getting the perfect pretty picture just floats away. And then I get to see who they really are and I fall in love.

all you need is love | houston family photographer

This sweet family of four have been waiting a few months to have their photos taken. I try not to schedule many sessions during the summer as it can be just too too hot for the little ones. And, well, who wants to be all uncomfortable and sweaty in their family pictures, anyway? They won an auction item that I’d donated to my kids’ elementary school in the Spring, but the drought was here and it was a super hot summer, so I convinced them to wait.

And the appointment landed on one of the most beautiful days, cool air, slight breeze, gorgeous light. It was perfection! Take a look at this gorgeous family and all the love they share.
