lovely families

When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.  ~Joyce Brothers

Last week I was asked to photograph a few families for my church’s advertisements. I’d initially hoped that we could take the photographs in the fields out by the church. But with the crazy winds and our church being in the middle of a field, there was just no way we’d get some good shots. So I quickly changed the location to a place I’ve never shot before, but noticed on the side of the road several times. It might just be my new favorite spot! Take a peek at these sweet families and kids!

And these two just grabbed my heart! Had to share them :)

It’s no surprise that I love photographing little girls. If you take a look at my recent personal posts, they almost all contain photos of my sweet Juliana. She’s 3 and she’s fascinated by everything and everything is magical. I love this stage and it’s so different from where the boys were at her age. They were only interested in making car noises, playing in dirt and catching frogs. Now, I love me some mud masks, but frog catching is not something I am so quick to run and do!

So when I found out that this sweet family of 3 was having their photos made with their 3 year old princess, I was ellated! And then when I saw her as her mama was unpacking her from her carseat…oh my! Look at these beautiful curls paired with her gorgeous smilie eyes! How could I resist!?

So, with all my love of photographing girls, I have noticed that my portfolio favors them too! I’m going to post a casting call for boys ages 6-10 sometime next week on my facebook fan page (you can see that on the sidebar on the left side of this page!). So if you’re not a fan but want some updated photos of your guy, be sure to ”like” my fan page and check back for all the details!

One of the most important things I try to do is to keep clients coming back. I first met this mom and dad long before they were a mom and dad. They’d been married a while and just wanted some updated photos of them together. A few months later, I received an email from Kate letting me know that they were joyfully expecting their first baby!  And then, last year, about this same time, this sweet little girl entered the world. Today, her newborn photos are one of the most visited pages on my blog. Here we are today, showing off her one year milestone. I love being a part of family history!

My goal, as a photographer, is to capture moments that can be shared between your family members. Memories that create a legacy. And I am overjoyed when you keep coming back asking me to create another piece of history for you. So, thank you so very much, Ms, for allowing me to do just that!

sweeties

The wind here in NW Houston has been so crazy and wild recently. I don’t ever remember it being quite this windy, at least not since I’ve been in business! I’ve had to reschedule a couple of sessions this year already due to, not rain, but wind! You’d think we live on the wide open plains!

This session is one that we had to reschedule, and now, after looking at the photos, I’m so glad we did! The beautiful warmth paired with the naturally warm smiles of these little beauties has made for some amazing photographs! We set out to capture some relaxed images of these sweet girls on a balmy, slightly breezy evening. Dad was so kind as to help me lug my 250 pound antique metal baby bed to our location. Ok, it wasn’t quite that heavy, but as awkward as this thing is, it sometimes feels that way. Every time I have the idea of using a peice of furniture out in the open, I’m pretty sure all the men think I’m a bit nuts. But I always promise that it’s worth it! And as you’ll see below, it was most definitely worth it!

I first met this mama a few months ago and fell in love with her. We were  are going through potty training issues and she happened to call one day while I was in the middle of it! But we laughed as we both understood that this is just a time that we have to go through and every mother goes through it! I am so glad I have understanding clients who are okay with the fact that I’m a mom first!!

So she called to book a session with the men in her life. All who are wonderful and have great personalities. I loved being able to joke freely with mom and dad, and to be able to spend time with their 3 boys! It was a blustery day, this day, but I am so excited to show you some of the images from their session :) check out the love they share, especially in this first! love them!
