I’ve gotten a couple of questions about the Live Love Experience, so I thought I’d put ‘em all in an FAQ page. I know it’s completely different than what your used to expecting from a family portrait session, so I wanted to clear a few things up! To review the FAQ, please click here!
Also! I wanted to update any of you interested in the workshop in February! There are only 4 seats left! Be sure to get yours before all the people who get new cameras for Christmas take the seats!
And because blog posts without pictures are boring, here’s a recent fine art photograph for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy your Christmas break!
As I was sitting in church this weekend, something became suddenly apparent to me.
I’ve always said that I love documenting memories for families, capturing moments for them that will eventually hide in the corners of their minds. I have loved giving them something tangible to remember. But what dawned on me this weekend was that, while this is very important to me, it’s not the most important part of this. The most important part is getting to participate. Getting to be a part of a family: to see the way they move and live and love together. To feel their joy, to laugh with them. I get to live with them.
If you’ve read any posts I’ve written about newborns, you’ll know that some of my fondest memories are when I first brought my babies home. The house is quiet and still and lazy. Nothing is expected from any of us and someone is always bringing dinner. I loved getting to cuddle with the babies and as we added, seeing the little ones cuddle with their brother and sister. If I could etch these memories in my mind forever, they’d be in the first chapter of the book.
So when I got to document this family after a few weeks of bringing their newest addition home, I was elated. And it was just how I remembered my own family. Carefree, loving, warm and happiness. I’m so grateful – and a bit jealous (wink, wink) that they get to have these wonderful memories!
So, sit back with a fresh cuppa and take a look at the Yates family at home…
I am so excited to show you this. This new product is something I’ve been wanting to do and working on for so long. I hope you’ll love it just as much as I do! Read on!

Sometimes, writing a blog post about people who mean the world to you can be very difficult. The truth is, though, writing any blog post can be difficult. Conveying, in words, emotion or trying to explain things that are hard to understand without being there. Trying to help you, the reader, get a personal glimpse of what each of the people I photograph mean to me. But, with people who are written on your heart, it’s that much harder.
I’ve sat here trying to prepare this blog post for over a week. Typing, erasing, re-typing. Honestly, though, none of what I’ve written can truly allow this couple, or you, know how much of a blessing they really are to me. So, as much as I’d like this to be one of those eloquently written posts, well, it’s just not. But, I promise that what you see below will make up for it!
