If you are a loyal blog follower, please let me apologize for seeming to fall off the face of the earth! These last few weeks of summer have had me running around crazy trying to be present with my kids and creating memories with them. I’ts been so nice to just go out and do fun things with them. We’ve gone to the pool nearly every other day, stopped for raspas more than a few times and had more than one lazy day. I longed for these days back in Spring. Now, though they won’t tell you, they’re ready to be back in school. Their becoming bored without a routine and reading and learning. I’m ready to begin the fall season and for cooler weather. It’s been insanely hot here. Stifling.

Here’s a picture of what our summer has looked like:

So school is starting, the Holidays will be here before you know it. Isn’t it amazing how fast time goes by? I swear the new year was just rung in, yet here we are 8 months in. Where have I been in it? A new goal of mine is to be in the moment. To live more significantly, to cherish the here and now. Last week, someone I follow on twitter tweeted this article out. Grab a tissue box.

I’ve been on a journey the last year or so. Wanting to do something more meaningful. I have a project that is in the works to capture realness: real memories, real love, real joy. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Oh my goodness. I am chomping at the bit for summer to start. I got a little taste of it this week when I played hookie and went down to the beach for a mid-week day trip. I posted that I was out for the day, and threw up a photo of my view on facebook. I got a lot of “What?! Who goes to the beach in the middle of the week?!”. Umm, me! I can’t tell you how relaxing it was and how fun it was. I very much needed a little getaway and this was the perfect prescription! If you ever feel the need to get away, I encourage you to just do it!

My good friend Tricia came over this week to have me photograph a few of her pieces. Tricia owns the fabulous Cache Chic and designs custom and personalized jewelry.  She has such a big heart and it shows in the quality of her work. Juliana wanted to help out a bit and so I piled on all of  the bracelets for a quick shot. Love how it turned out!

Andre celebrated the begining of summer with splash day during his last week of kindergarten. They had pools and slip ‘n slides, water toys and lots and lots of shaving cream. Fun was certainly had by all! I can’t believe my baby boy is going to be a first grader! He’s so ready, but I know how much he’s going to miss his teacher (as will I!). I swear she’s the best kindergarten teacher in the world with the perfect heart for what she does. I’m crossing my fingers that Juliana will get her when her time comes!

I hope you all have a very happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend. Please remember to give thanks and remembrance for those who’ve died to protect our freedoms.
