I love new ideas. I love curling babies up and snapping away. I love the art that babies are: simple, breathtaking, pure. And right now, I’d love to broaden my portfolio, offering new poses, new settings and new opportunities to create art with your babies.

If you are pregnant and are due any time in the next 3 months, or know someone who is, this post is for you! The model call is a perfect way to have your brand new baby’s photograph captured at such an important time in their brand new lives.

I am currently looking for brand new babies to photograph. Appointments are limited!

These model call sessions will:

• Have a complimentary creative fee (however, prints and products may be purchased at discounted rates).

• Be goaled towards capturing a single image / pose (but if time and patience permits, additional poses and images may be attempted).

• Require a model release (most likely the image will be published).

• Be held at either your home or at an outdoor location of Christie’s preference.

The current model calls are for:

• Any newborn babies that are 10 days or younger.

• Newborn twins and triplets, either one week of age or within one week of age of coming home from the nicu (preferably with minimal time spent in the nicu).

It’s true. I don’t know about you, but my world has been completely reinvented by my children. One day I’m living only for myself, the next day I have a little human being to raise and grow and nurture and help become what they are meant to be. It’s such an amazing feeling to watch them grow and change.

I was given the opportunity to photograph this little bundle of love last week. She was so so good and easy (once she fell asleep! haha). It was a little bittersweet for me because I feel like she may be one of the last newborns I photograph professionally. I don’t know if that’s a fact, but right now it’s a feeling. So I was feeling all kinds of joy to sit and pose her and cuddle her. And when we took a break, it was so nice to sit down and watch her mama and daddy and grammy dote all over her. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, babies’ first days home are the absolute best.

Whenever I talk about my kids’ kindergarten teacher, I call her mine or ours. I think people look at me a little bit weird but, well, it’s the truth, she’s ours. She’s been ours since the moment she took my oldest (and in 4th grade) son back to sit in his brand new desk a few days before kindergarten started. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now I am biased, and I know that some of you coming to look here are her friends and colleagues, but she is the bestest. She was there for my oldest his first year of school, and then my second. And next year, God help me, she better be my sweet Juliana’s kindergarten teacher. She’s so important that when we started to think about moving a few months ago, I was secretly hoping that it wouldn’t happen because I can’t imagine Juliana being loved on by any other person during her first year of formal education.

Our family has been so blessed by her goodness and kindness. I am so blessed to have been able to watch her own baby boy grow up. And now, I get to see him grow into a big brother with this sweet little cupcake below. Casey, thanks for all that you do. You are an amazing teacher, so full of love and kindness. You’re a fantastic mommy, too! Can’t wait to see this sweetie grow!

PS: we’ve been a little bit down the last two weeks, I was sick, then the girl got sick, then the middle ended up with the flu. I get so excited when I get to photograph clients a second time. Especially if I haven’t seen them since they were a brand new baby! So when this mama scheduled one of my mini sessions, I was ecstatic to see how much her baby girl had grown.

So, okay, she’s not all grown up, but she’s 7 months and can I tell you how much I love this age? They’re growing their personalities and they’re curious and just about anything I do pleases them and makes them happy This age, right when they’re sitting up, right before they get their footing, right when they learn how to belly laugh. Oh my goodness, I could eat it up all day long. I’m so lucky to just have spent 30 minutes with them

Grandma called me last week asking if I’d happened to have any availability to photograph her brand new grandson. You see, he came a few weeks early and they just hadn’t had a chance to plan to have a photographer over. The good news was that I was available for a day time newborn session. Her daughter had wanted so badly to have her brand new baby boy photographed.

I loved spending time with this little guy. Once he fell asleep, he was down for the count and allowed me to move him around and pose him as needed. But his most favorite was when he was swaddled up, cozy and warm.

Mom, dad, grandma, thanks so much for sharing this bundle of joy with me!

I’d gotten a call from Cy-Fair Magazine to do an interview. It was going to feature myself and another photographer and be about newborn photography. A few days after the interview, I received an email asking if their staff photographer could come along to a newborn shoot to snap a few photos for the feature. “Ummm, sure!” I said. “But let me see if I can find one because all of my newborn sessions are in October and November!”. Thank goodness for Facebook! One little status update asking if anyone knew a family that had just had a baby who was 2 weeks and younger. I think I had rounded one up in 2 hours or less!

So, on the shortest notice ever, we set up a session for the following day. Sweet baby girl was just 8 days old and simply perfect for her big debut. Thanks mama and daddy for being so accommodating and for allowing me into your home on such short notice to capture her first days!
