a little longer

So, my big reveal was set for this morning and I’m so sad to have to say that its going to take a little bit longer. I ran into a little snag and didn’t think things through 100% and so now I am waiting on just a few things. Hopefully I’ll get the feedback and info needed today and I can show you later on! But because I want to make sure that every ‘T’ is crossed and ‘I’ is dotted, and because I want to be respectful and launch this project the right way, it’s just going to have to wait

Big Changes | Houston Family Photographer

This year has been such a growing year for me, spiritually. I’ve learned a lot of things about myself and my dreams. I’m feeling the need to slow down and to listen to what God has planned for me and for this gift that He’s given me. I don’t really know what that looks like yet, but I do know that keeping up and maintaining this business doesn’t leave a lot of room for His direction. And so, with a lot of thought and a lot of prayer and a lot of discussion with my husband and friends, I’ve found a new direction.

Our kids are young, and God willing, we have many years with them. But, there are so many things that we don’t remember or have tangible memories of. And most of those photos that we do have, don’t include one of us or the other. I want that to change for them. I want them to have these grand and fantastic memories of us living our love together, visible images that include all of us together as a family. A part of allowing this to happen is for me to slow down with the things that clutter my life and keep me distracted from all the moments we miss.

In realizing this about my family, I’ve realized that this is what I want for yours. I want to use my gifts of photography and vision and love to document your family’s real live love. I want to document your quirks and your belly laughs, your warm hugs and your family dynamic. I’ve realized that while family portraits are great and wonderful, there is so much authenticity lacking from them. When you stop what you’re doing to look at the camera and have your photo taken, you miss the opportunity to live in the moment. These missed moments are what I want to document for you.

And so…There are some great big huge changes happening here at CLP. Changes that I’m both afraid and thrilled for. These changes will not only allow me to be the best mama I can be, but they’ll allow me to be the best photographer and documenter of your lives. I’m so excited for what’s about to come.

Ok, I know I’ve been talking about Christmas for the last few posts. I just can’t help it. It’s my favorite time of year. If I had it my way, there would be lights in my house all the time. I look forward to singing carols, smelling spiced candles and celebrating the miraculous birth of Christ Jesus. So, yes, I’m starting early. And hey, Hobby Lobby is doing it, why can’t I?

I’m also going to be sharing with you this year’s Christmas Cards next week, so be sure to stop back and see the beautiful jaw-dropping designs (see a few samples below!).

All sessions will take place in the Cypress area (travel fee required outside of Cypress).
Payment of any package is due in full at time of scheduling, however, should you choose to upgrade your package later on, you are welcomed to do so!
10-15 images will be fully enhanced and shown in an online, password protected gallery.
All sessions must be completed by November 15th.
All packages are subject to the required state sales tax.

I just wanted to post a ditty to say that I’m out of town today! I’m taking a little siesta while the kids are all in school and headin to the beach. I can’t wait for some down time

I have been reflecting over the last few days since the horrendous devastation began in Haiti. I can’t imagine what they are going through, the hoplessness that many must feel, the pain, the suffering. I can’t imagine what the job of re-creation entails and how they feel after losing so many loved ones. This morning I saw the story of a 13 year old boy who lost his mother and father; he’d suffered a broken leg and a head injury. The videographer showed the medics trying to brace the leg and the boy screamed with pain. My heart breaks.

When you read this, please take a moment to say a prayer for the children in Haiti. As an adult I can’t imagine not having my family and having my entire world fall apart, but even more, I can’t imagine being a child and losing everything you’ve known. Please pray for peace, strength, hope, love and most importantly, faith.

For every single session booked with me this year, I will donate $10 towards disaster relief and rebuilding effort through my church’s ministry. Just a quick note to remind you that I will be out of office, spending some much needed time with my family through July 22nd. I hope you all are enjoying your summer so far! Unfortunately, we’ve been sick at our house for the last week or so, so we are welcoming vacation and relaxation!

Just an update to let you know that I am going to be out of office June 15 through July 12 and then again July 18 through July 22. If you are planning to have a session this summer, please contact me as soon as possible so that we can arrange a session for you! I am currently booked through the first week of June, with a few sessions scattered around the summer months, so space is becoming more limited as summer draws near. I hope to see some of you and your families this summer!

Also, if any of you are interested, I’m happy to do lifestyle sessions on the beach! I, myself, love taking the kiddos down to spend the day and enjoy the warm breeze and cool water.

Boys and Girls Country Fest Cancelled | Houston Family Photography

I’m heartbroken to have to share this news. I know the Boys and Girls Country work so hard throughout the year to make this event happen as it’s one of the biggest fundraising events they have to help care for their 88 boys and girls. Below is an email I received with more information. When I hear the news I’ll be sure to let you know!

After Quintes Stark, our Director of Operations, walked the grounds this morning after the downpour of rain last night, and vehicle-tested the possibility of parking 2000-3000 cars in an already soggy, muddy field that won’t be dry for a week….and with the likelihood that rain may continue as it has today….we are canceling the Spring Festival on-site event — for only the second time in almost two decades.

We had to make the decision today. Aztec Tents & Events was packed and ready to send their crew out here in the morning to set up all of our booths and tents. We felt relatively comfortable that we could get most of the event set up on mostly dry land, but we have no place that you and the friends you have recruited to volunteer with you could safely park.

We considered re-scheduling, but with the hundreds of volunteers and logistics involved, we knew that was not feasible.

We considered shuttling our guests from a paved parking lot further down on Roberts Road, but know that getting 3000 people back and forth to our festival would be a logistics nightmare.

But we also know that we desperately need the funds that would have been raised on Saturday.

So, what are we doing?

v     We are canceling all the things that will cost money to save on expenses
v     We are planning a Silent and Live Auction on line and through mail
v     We will design other creative ways to communicate with our friends and donors to let them know how they can help.

I am so sorry that we cannot control the weather — or the land that floods around us. Other than that, we’re on it! Stay with us and stay tuned!

This week has been one of the best and busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. Not only have I been able to shoot some amazing mamas, but also some fantastic newborns and children! Add to all of that some real focus for my business and where I’m headed. Since you all are so much a part of it, I truly can’t wait to share it with you! There are exciting things happening over here and I cannot wait until I get to spill the beans with y’all!
