I have been reflecting over the last few days since the horrendous devastation began in Haiti. I can’t imagine what they are going through, the hoplessness that many must feel, the pain, the suffering. I can’t imagine what the job of re-creation entails and how they feel after losing so many loved ones. This morning I saw the story of a 13 year old boy who lost his mother and father; he’d suffered a broken leg and a head injury. The videographer showed the medics trying to brace the leg and the boy screamed with pain. My heart breaks.

When you read this, please take a moment to say a prayer for the children in Haiti. As an adult I can’t imagine not having my family and having my entire world fall apart, but even more, I can’t imagine being a child and losing everything you’ve known. Please pray for peace, strength, hope, love and most importantly, faith.

For every single session booked with me this year, I will donate $10 towards disaster relief and rebuilding effort through my church’s ministry. Just a quick note to remind you that I will be out of office, spending some much needed time with my family through July 22nd. Emails and phone calls will be answered when time allows during the next month. If your concern requires urgency, please be assured that I will contact you as soon as possible. I am now booking for August and September 09. If you are interested in scheduling a Christmas session, please start thinking of dates now, as they will begin filling up next month! I hope you all are enjoying your summer so far! Unfortunately, we’ve been sick at our house for the last week or so, so we are welcoming vacation and relaxation!

Just an update to let you know that I am going to be out of office June 15 through July 12 and then again July 18 through July 22. If you are planning to have a session this summer, please contact me as soon as possible so that we can arrange a session for you! I am currently booked through the first week of June, with a few sessions scattered around the summer months, so space is becoming more limited as summer draws near. I hope to see some of you and your families this summer!

Also, if any of you are interested, I’m happy to do lifestyle sessions on the beach! I, myself, love taking the kiddos down to spend the day and enjoy the warm breeze and cool water.

Boys and Girls Country Fest Cancelled | Houston Family Photography

I’m heartbroken to have to share this news. I know the Boys and Girls Country work so hard throughout the year to make this event happen as it’s one of the biggest fundraising events they have to help care for their 88 boys and girls. Below is an email I received with more information. When I hear the news I’ll be sure to let you know!

After Quintes Stark, our Director of Operations, walked the grounds this morning after the downpour of rain last night, and vehicle-tested the possibility of parking 2000-3000 cars in an already soggy, muddy field that won’t be dry for a week….and with the likelihood that rain may continue as it has today….we are canceling the Spring Festival on-site event — for only the second time in almost two decades.

We had to make the decision today. Aztec Tents & Events was packed and ready to send their crew out here in the morning to set up all of our booths and tents. We felt relatively comfortable that we could get most of the event set up on mostly dry land, but we have no place that you and the friends you have recruited to volunteer with you could safely park.

We considered re-scheduling, but with the hundreds of volunteers and logistics involved, we knew that was not feasible.

We considered shuttling our guests from a paved parking lot further down on Roberts Road, but know that getting 3000 people back and forth to our festival would be a logistics nightmare.

But we also know that we desperately need the funds that would have been raised on Saturday.

So, what are we doing?

v     We are canceling all the things that will cost money to save on expenses
v     We are planning a Silent and Live Auction on line and through mail
v     We will design other creative ways to communicate with our friends and donors to let them know how they can help.

I am so sorry that we cannot control the weather — or the land that floods around us. Other than that, we’re on it! Stay with us and stay tuned!

This week has been one of the best and busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. Not only have I been able to shoot some amazing mamas, but also some fantastic newborns and children! Add to all of that some real focus for my business and where I’m headed. Since you all are so much a part of it, I truly can’t wait to share it with you! There are exciting things happening over here and I cannot wait until I get to spill the beans with y’all!

Last Call and a fundraiser!

Hey everyone! I posting here from lovely Phoenix! I just wanted to post a few things!

First, Friday at midnight is your deadline to get in a family picture! At the moment I only have a few entries and really, this is a fantastic opportunity for a chance to win a fantastic photo package! Be sure to send me a family picture at contest@christielacy.com by midnight Friday the 10th!!

I told you about my client Ryan and his family a few weeks ago. Ryan has epilepsy and his team has already raised over $8k in donations to help the IDEA League and the Houston chapter of the National Epilepsy Foundation. I’m happy to announce my first Mommy and Me Mini Sessions! I’ve done mini sessions in the past but those have mostly been during Christmas. Well, I got to thinking, what about all the other important days during the year?! What about one of the most important like celebrating Mommy!! If your familiy is anything like mine, I’m always stuck behind the camera and don’t get to jump in and be in pictures with my kiddos. Well, because of that (and the fact that I simply adore seeing a mama and her kids together in love) I’ve decided to do some Mama and Me mini sessions.

What’s a mini-session? you ask. Well, to make it simple, it’s a small taste of a custom photography session with me! You get to experience a smaller session at a smaller price. All images are treated exactly the same as if you were to purchase a complete private session, but you’ll have fewer to choose from. A mini-session is for those who might be saving their pennies, but still appreciate fine art custom photography. Also for those who maybe are running around taking kids from one activity to another, but don’t have the time for a full session. Or maybe you’ve heard of me through a friend or family member and want to see what I’m about. Or maybe you just want updated photos and appreciate the savings and opportunity of these Limited Sessions!
