Greater Houston Area Children and Family Photography | Christie Lacy bio picture

Come in and stay a while :)

Hi! I'm Christie. I'm married (Jerome) and mama to 3 beautiful kiddos (7, 5 and 2). They keep me busy, but they keep me young. I love seeing the world through their eyes, learning about things I'd forgotten about since I was their ages. I love that they find beauty in the smallest things. I love their wonderment and awe, their many moods and their desire to know everything they can.

I wasn't a photographer pre-child. It was something that I grew into as my desire to freeze in time everything that these wonderful blessings embraced. From the way my middle one closes his eyes in bliss every time he eats (he has a real love for tasty foods), to capturing the boys playing in mud, and seeing baby girl's imagination come to life when she dons her princess garb. As I've seen with my now 7 year old, time passes way too swiftly. The things that they do today, will be gone tomorrow, except for the photographs.

My goal for your session is to help you freeze your moments. Your child's stages of life, their joy, their imagination, and even the temper tantrums. So whether you want to hop out on the golf course, have a baking cookies session, or wander around in the park, let's capture your real life moments.

Sweets (for my sweeties) | Houston Family Photographer

Rarely do I feel as though I need to reshoot a session. But there are so many reasons I could explain why I need to re-do this one. “I just didn’t get the posing right” or “There’s too much drool at the mouth” (mine of course!) or maybe “the coloring was just all…wrong?”. *sigh* Sadly, I don’t think there was actually anything wrong with this particular shoot, either!

No matter. Maybe she’ll do something similar for Easter (hint hint). Life is divine when payment for services is a plate of gourmet chocolate strawberries!

Just look at these photos! I know you want some. And guess what, you totally can! (Note: if you go to my church and are on the Get Fitt plan, good news! Mark says our cheat day is Sunday and Valentine’s Day is on Sunday this year! woot!! Note 2: If you’re my trainer and are concerned, aren’t these fruit? and doesn’t chocolate have great antioxidant powers? just sayin’). Tara from Chocolate Encore is teaming up with the Bavarian Cakery to bring you these yummy sweets! Not only are they offering these scrumptious strawberries, but they’ll also have Red Velvet Cupcakes to order!

These wonderful treats are only available for order February 8th through February 13th and are priced at $13.50 for 6 of either the cupcakes or chocolate dipped strawberries. A super sweet deal!

having fun | Cypress Family and Children Photographer

This may be the most fun I’ve had during a session with my own kids. Why? Because there was no perfect shot that I was trying to achieve. Instead, I was trying toachieve something so silly and fun that it coudn’t help but be perfect. Unfortunately, my middle child has a strong case of Photographer’s Child Syndrome and won’t let me take a photo of him. I thought I could entice him by showing him these crazy photos of his siblings. No such luck. But you can take a peek :) We’re having fun with this new thing: Jowling.   Loosen your lips/cheeks/face, and shake your head as fast as you can while someone takes photos of you. Hope you don’t slobber all over the place. I have to tell you, it’s so hard not to smile while you’re doing this!

On my heart today: Layla Grace. This little soul is going through so much right now and I can’t imagine how hard it is for her parents and family to deal with. Please do all you can to keep her in your continued prayers. She needs a miracle and our God can provide it. Please ask him to. You can follow Layla on twitter here: http://www.twitter.com/laylagrace

In other news: Don’t forget to nominate someone for a strength session! I can’t wait to meet the amazing people you know. Need more info? click here to find out!

miPhone | Cypress Area Children’s Photography

I am so excited for today! Today my friend, Kim, and I are going on an adventure! We are seeking out new locations where we could possibly shoot our sessions! Our creative souls are hoping to be fed. But not only that, we get to spend the day together conjuring up great new ideas for our businesses! I can’t wait to share with you what we find! And I’m so excited to share with you a new idea for my blog that will hopefully have you laughing, interested and connected!

Inspired by the phenominal Lindsey Stradtner, I thought I’d share a few pics from my iPhone. A collection of snippets from my daily life, including food (ha! there’s not much of these anymore as I started watching what I eat. Kendall, if you’re watching, no, that chocolate chip cake and PB cookies were eaten last year, long before I committed to changing!), fun, family and iphone art.

Please Pray | Houston Area Family and Child Photographer

I have been reflecting over the last few days since the horrendous devastation began in Haiti. I can’t imagine what they are going through, the hoplessness that many must feel, the pain, the suffering. I can’t imagine what the job of re-creation entails and how they feel after losing so many loved ones. This morning I saw the story of a 13 year old boy who lost his mother and father; he’d suffered a broken leg and a head injury. The videographer showed the medics trying to brace the leg and the boy screamed with pain. My heart breaks.

When you read this, please take a moment to say a prayer for the children in Haiti. As an adult I can’t imagine not having my family and having my entire world fall apart, but even more, I can’t imagine being a child and losing everything you’ve known. Please pray for peace, strength, hope, love and most importantly, faith.

For every single session booked with me this year, I will donate $10 towards disaster relief and rebuilding effort through my church’s ministry.  If you would like to personally donate to this cause, please click here to do so. To read more or get an update on our ministry there in Haiti, please read here.

Introducing: Strength Sessions | Houston Family and Children’s Photographer

I have met so many wonderful people in the last year. Many of whom are going through some pretty hefty battles. I got to thinking that there has to be more out there. More people who are overcoming, who are fighting, who have awesome spirits, who have faith. And then I thought that I’d like to know them, to know their stories.  I know you know them. I know that they are your mothers, your friends, your families. I would like to honor them with a Strength Session, a complimentary session + package focusing on these wonderful people (and if applicable, their families) and a way to document the strength that these wonderful souls have and the inspiration they have been.

So here’s where you come in. Think deeply about the people in your life, the people you’ve come across, the people you know at church or work. What cross have they been given? What battles have they been given? What have they had to overcome or go through?  I need you to introduce me to them. Email me their stories, maybe a photo or two. Tell me about them, how they’ve affected your lives, why you are inspired by them and why you think they deserve to have a Strength Session. I’ll also need their contact info so that I can get in touch with them!  Once I receivethe emails, I (along with a few friends) will look over the stories to introduce to you.  Please email me these stories to strength@christielacy.com. The deadline is February 5th! So, start thinking!

I can’t wait to meet the people in your lives who’ve touched you!

While I plan to honor one person/family per quarter, you are welcomed to email me stories throughout the year.  It is possible that someone affects me so much that I honor more than one person/family per quarter! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
