Greater Houston Area Children and Family Photography | Christie Lacy bio picture

Come in and stay a while :)

Hi! I'm Christie. I'm married (Jerome) and mama to 3 beautiful kiddos (8, 6 & 3). They keep me busy, but they keep me young. I love seeing the world through their eyes, learning about things I'd forgotten about since I was their ages. I love that they find beauty in the smallest things. I love their wonderment and awe, their many moods and their desire to know everything they can.

I wasn't a photographer before my children. I didn't grow up using my father's Pentax film camera. I think I got a little camera for one of my birthdays, but probably lost it somewhere along the way. If that's a story you were expecting to hear, I'm sorry to dissappoint!

Photography was something that I grew into as my desire to freeze in time everything that these wonderful blessings embraced. From the way my middle one closes his eyes in bliss every time he eats (he has a real love for tasty foods), to capturing the boys playing in mud, and seeing baby girl's imagination come to life when she dons her princess garb. As I've seen with my now 8 year old, time passes way too swiftly. The things that they do today, will be gone tomorrow, all except for the photographs.

My goal for your session is to help you freeze your moments. Your child's stages of life, their joy, their imagination, and even the temper tantrums. So whether you want to hop out on the golf course, have a baking cookies session, or wander around in the park, let's capture your real life moments. Yes, my goal is to capture these moments so that you'll have them to remember back on. But more importantly, my goal is to capture them for your children to look back on. Do this for you, but more importantly, do it for them.

showered | Cypress Baby Shower Photographer

I’m getting back into the swing of things after being gone a week. Unfortunately, I came home from my trip to Phoenix with a cold. Pair that with the fact that my ears still have not popped from my plane ride and this end of spring break is not going very well.

But it started off great! I was so happy to be visiting my family who all live in Arizona! We had a birthday lunch for my grandmother and then a baby shower for my sister, Michele. My youngest sister, Kari, and I ran around all day Saturday trying to find the perfect decorations. Yes, I know it was last minute, but I couldn’t pack all of the supplies in my suitcase :( So we shopped. I think we had a great time, though we were a bit tired by Saturday night.

Here are a few snaps from my sister’s shower. Isn’t she a gorgeous mama to be?!

Thanks to my sister’s fabulous sister-in-law for the wonderful cupcakes!

Snow Day | Cypress Family Photography

I was so mad about the weather that day. We’d just enjoyed a beautiful, balmy, 70F sunny day. But as we all know, Houston’s weather is never predictable. I had to go to the grocery store and had to troop out into the sleet with my 3 year old. It was cold. The roads were crazy. I was not happy. And then, the snow came.

The last time it snowed, the kids were stuck in school and I vowed that I would take them out of school if it snowed again. Don’t hate. I grew up in Northern Arizona where it snowed every winter and we’d walk the streets during the bright & quiet nights having snow ball fights. I remember one year in particular. My mom had planned to take a few friends and I out of town for my birthday. But then it snowed 6 inches during the night. In a small town, there was only one place to be and it was the local elementary school. There were huge hills that we could take our makeshift sleds (either a trash bag or a garbage can lid) and sled to our hear’s desire. So, yes. I was going to take my kids out of school to make a memory for them.

But I didn’t have to :) The snow started around 4:30 and lasted only a short while. And, as mad as I was about the cold weather, I took them outside and we made memories :)

Layla Grace – Cypress Children’s Photographer

We never quite know what it is that God gives us, why He choses certain things for our lives. But we have faith that His plan is for us, that He loves us so much and He knows what is best. And so we believe that He makes all things happen for our good. The wonderful thing about God’s love is: even when we’re feeling down and we have moments when we question His motives, He still loves us.

There are so many things I want to say about this session, this person, this family. They are courageous, they are faithful, they are hopeful. She is amazing, she is a fighter, she is a beautiful little girl who God sent here for a purpose. Her sisters are wonderful. The oldest is such a sweet sweet girl who seems to be a little mother hen. The middle sister is full of life and character and beautiful grins. The love that mom and dad have for each other and their girls is so evident.

This family. They’ve changed me. They have me on my knees for them; for her. I am so beyond humbled that they asked me to photograph them; to capture this important moment in their lives.

If you haven’t heard of them, you can read sweet Layla’s story at http://www.LaylaGrace.org or follow them on Twitter: @LaylaGrace. And please, if you feel the need to drop on your knees for them, please join me in praying for peace, strength, faith, comfort and a miracle.

Sweets (for my sweeties) | Houston Family Photographer

Rarely do I feel as though I need to reshoot a session. But there are so many reasons I could explain why I need to re-do this one. “I just didn’t get the posing right” or “There’s too much drool at the mouth” (mine of course!) or maybe “the coloring was just all…wrong?”. *sigh* Sadly, I don’t think there was actually anything wrong with this particular shoot, either!

No matter. Maybe she’ll do something similar for Easter (hint hint). Life is divine when payment for services is a plate of gourmet chocolate strawberries!

Just look at these photos! I know you want some. And guess what, you totally can! (Note: if you go to my church and are on the Get Fitt plan, good news! Mark says our cheat day is Sunday and Valentine’s Day is on Sunday this year! woot!! Note 2: If you’re my trainer and are concerned, aren’t these fruit? and doesn’t chocolate have great antioxidant powers? just sayin’). Tara from Chocolate Encore is teaming up with the Bavarian Cakery to bring you these yummy sweets! Not only are they offering these scrumptious strawberries, but they’ll also have Red Velvet Cupcakes to order!

These wonderful treats are only available for order February 8th through February 13th and are priced at $13.50 for 6 of either the cupcakes or chocolate dipped strawberries. A super sweet deal!
