he loves me | houston family photographer

It had been the longest of days. I wasn’t feeling well, the kids were exhausting my energy. I had just finished photographing not one, but two sessions on a hot August evening. I came home and realized that I really needed to go grocery shopping. He and the kids weren’t home yet and I wasn’t quite sure where they’d gone. I ran across the street to pick up the littlest from her friend’s and then came home and started searching for anything I could turn into a meal.

And then, the 3 of them came in. The boys were chatty and busy and he’d taken them to the store to pick up the staples — and for no reason, these:

They wanted it. I wanted it. The last month or so has been a bit exhausting. As soon as we got back from Dallas, the countdown was on. They were so bored and ready to do something. I even overheard the older one tell the younger that he couldn’t wait to go back to school. I wrote that one down in the book.

They were up at 6:30 this morning, did their morning routine, made their own lunches and were ready to go by 7:15. I don’t even know if I was up by then, to be honest with you.

And, like last year, here are our 1st day of school photos!

living

If you are a loyal blog follower, please let me apologize for seeming to fall off the face of the earth! These last few weeks of summer have had me running around crazy trying to be present with my kids and creating memories with them. I’ts been so nice to just go out and do fun things with them. We’ve gone to the pool nearly every other day, stopped for raspas more than a few times and had more than one lazy day. I longed for these days back in Spring. Now, though they won’t tell you, they’re ready to be back in school. Their becoming bored without a routine and reading and learning. I’m ready to begin the fall season and for cooler weather. It’s been insanely hot here. Stifling.

Here’s a picture of what our summer has looked like:

So school is starting, the Holidays will be here before you know it. Isn’t it amazing how fast time goes by? I swear the new year was just rung in, yet here we are 8 months in. Where have I been in it? A new goal of mine is to be in the moment. To live more significantly, to cherish the here and now. Last week, someone I follow on twitter tweeted this article out. Grab a tissue box.

I’ve been on a journey the last year or so. Wanting to do something more meaningful. I have a project that is in the works to capture realness: real memories, real love, real joy. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Happy Birthday!| Houston Family Photography

I remember when we found out we were pregnant with him. We were young and we were carefree and we were enjoying the little obligations and little responsability that we had.  And then one day, this amazing and beautiful gift became ours. I became a mother and I became protective and thoughtful and caring for someone other than myself. God had blessed me with this child and meant for me–me–to be his mama.

This one, he’s blessed my life in more ways than I can count. He keeps me on my toes and keeps me thinking. He keeps me aware of how I respond and how I react. He’s tender-hearted, he’s observant, he’s a lover of music and art, he’s genuine. He’s a heart-on-the-sleeve kind of guy. He’s my first born; he made me a mother. And today, he’s nine.

In celebrating his birthday, I thought I’d throw out a special offer to you! Today through midnight only, take $175 off the full price of the Captivate Sessions (normally $550, today they’re $375). These sessions are valued at over $1500. This is an amazing opportunity to have your portraits taken and receive a digital collection at a super low price. The price will never ever be so low again! To book your session and view full details of the Captivate Sessions, click here.
