I was talking with my husband this week and we couldn’t believe that the 8th month of the year is almost over. Soon enough we’ll be planning holiday meals and it will be winter break. I don’t remember time passing quite so fast when I was a child.

Something else that’s hard to believe is that there are only 2 weekend dates and 7 weekday session dates available for family or children sessions for the remainder of the year. I will not be photographing any holiday, family or children’s sessions after the first week of November. I know you’re probably thinking that there’s still a month and a half til Christmas, but with the time it takes to process your sessions and then the turn-around time from the lab, the latest I can enter orders and get them back to you in time for mailing to your friends and family is November 15th. This is the absolute deadline to have your order in so that you will receive it in time for gift giving and card sending!

While there are only a few full creative sessions left, I do have plenty of Christmas Mini Sessions available. November is full, but October has about 5 more left and September hasn’t had one booking yet. These mini sessions are designed for the budget-conscious client who maybe has already had a session this year and just needs an updated image for card sending or gift giving. They are great sessions for quick updates of the kids, too. A couple questions have been asked, so here are a few more tidbits about the sessions:

The sessions are not themed (meaning: Santa is not coming to your shoot location to have the kids sit on his lap, nor will there be any Christmas trees hanging around). While I love incorporating different things that your families love, mini sessions don’t really allow the time. Plus, this will allow you to hang your photos in your home year round.

The sessions are on location and not done in any studio. Take a look at the locations that are on my blog and the mini’s will likely be held in some place similiar!

They are limited to the dates listed on the information page and are not available to be scheduled for any other dates.

The sessions are valued at $500 or more each session package.

If you’re a fan on my facebook fan page (like page?), then you’ve probably seen that I introduced my 2010 Christmas Card collection. I’m so excited to offer these beautifully designed cards to you this year. All the cards are sized 5×7 and are flat cards (printed on both sides) printed on the highest quality cardstock available. All cards come with envelopes for your card sending convenience.

Well, I’ve been asked to head north and do some mini sessions in the Dallas Area! I’m so excited to offer these sessions to my north Texas clients who I rarely get to see! I’m so excited to be up in the Frisco, TX area during the fall. While the weather down here in Houston is often warm, North Texas is always cool and crisp and very fall like.

I’ve pre-packaged some options for you so that you don’t have to think too hard about it. There are 4 options, so I’m sure at least one will fit your needs and budget!

Now, the fine print:

All sessions will take place in McKinney, TX (location will be sent upon scheduling).
Payment of any package is due in full at time of scheduling, however, should you choose to upgrade your package later on, you are welcomed to do so!
10-15 images will be fully enhanced and shown in an online, password protected gallery.
All sessions will take place Sunday October 24th.
All packages are subject to the required state sales tax.

Sessions begin at noon and later in 30 minute intervals, please call for time availability!!

Ok, I know I’ve been talking about Christmas for the last few posts. I just can’t help it. It’s my favorite time of year. If I had it my way, there would be lights in my house all the time. I look forward to singing carols, smelling spiced candles and celebrating the miraculous birth of Christ Jesus. So, yes, I’m starting early. And hey, Hobby Lobby is doing it, why can’t I?

I remember when we found out we were pregnant with him. We were young and we were carefree and we were enjoying the little obligations and little responsability that we had. While I’m still out on vacation, I’m beginning to go a little stir crazy! Doing nothing for 2 weeks has been awesome, but has also given me a little time to think. So I thought I’d just do a little post and give you some things to think about too!

Christmas will be here before we know it!

I know what you’re thinking: Christie, we just celebrated the 4th of July! How can you be talking about Christmas already!?

Well, friends, the thing is this: September, October and November are my busiest months. When the weather cools families are ready for their family portraits for the year. Their ready to send their updated photos to their friends and families and to share all the growth and stories of the previous year. The trend over the past few years is that the summer months are just too hot to get the family together. And, let’s face it, dad will be a much happier camper if he’s comfortable. And mom, you know that means you and the kids will too.

But, come September, folks will be coming out of the woodwork to have their photo sessions. And that means that I will have limited availability. Your best bet is to book early so that when the time comes, you’re not left searching for a photographer. There are limited dates left on my calendar for full sessions. Once these dates are filled, I won’t know how many more I’ll be able to fit in. So if you’re thinking that you’d like a full session, I encourage you to take a look at the calendar and book your session as soon as possible!

If you’re thinking that you want updated photos, but don’t necessarily need everything a full session has to offer, I’ve introduced a great new package that is just for you! You can view information about the Captivate Sessions by clicking here. And for the month of July only, if you book any captivate session, I’ll include a custom designed photo card that will allow you to print as many as you like through the printing lab of your choice! Stepping it up.

Beginning August 1st, I’m going to be introducing some new boutique items that will help you design your own home galleries featuring the beautiful photos of your families. From custom framing to beautifully designed collections paired with personalized boutique-y pieces, I’m sure to have some wonderful items to help you display the art of your family. With these new and improved additions comes a price increase, however. But have no worries! If you book a session between now and August 15th, the current pricing menu will be honored! Plus, you’ll receive an extra 15% VIP discount on the newly featured items!

Get Clickin’

After many, many requests (and some begging) I’ve decided that I will offer some photography workshops geared for beginners. While I’m still putting the details together, the class will take you from knowing nothing to knowing your camera and the different functions of it. You’ll learn to use this information to create better photographs and will learn to see more creatively. The classes will be limited and there is a limit of 10 people per class. These classes are not a “how to be in business” class. If you are interested in hosting a class in your home or are interested in finding more information about how you can sign up, please email me using the contact form above and be sure to let me know which you’re interested in!

Lastly,

I am sure you’ve seen a few of the local “Best of” contests. I’m so humbled to know that I’ve been nominated. Photographing your families and seeing the beauty in you is such a blessing to me. How amazing it is that I’ve been able to do this wonderful thing that I love for so long. You bless me by choosing me to capture your wonderful faces. If you’ve read any of my personal blog this year, you’ll know that I’ve had a bit of a struggle with wanting to keep up the business or to just do what comes to me. After spending this time with my family, I’ve decided that after this year, I will take limited sessions next year and will focus more on my family, faith/ministry and personal projects. No, friends, I’m not giving this gift up and I may be at it again for the next holiday season, but I’m feeling drawn to place importance on what really matters.

Wow. It’s hard to believe that I’m celebrating my 3rd anniversary in business this month! It feels like yesterday that my passion for photography grew. A lot has changed over the years and I’m so happy to say that my photography has, as well!

Thank you, friends, for choosing me to be a small part of your lives, for allowing me the privelage of seeing and feeling and being a part of your family. Now, more than ever before, I feel so blessed to be doing something that I love. And while I’m still trying to find out what God wants me to do with this gift, I’m incredibly grateful for journey of it.

I thought I’d share a few of my first photos of my kids. These are the reasons I became interested in photography.

These first two were taken before Juliana was born. Oi vey. I can’t tell you how hard it is for me to share these! LOL! But, for any of you interested in photography, look how far you can come!

And these were taken in 2007. I wish I had more to share with you, but unfortunately, I had a drive crash and lost some images. I am hoping I backed ‘em up to CD, but haven’t gone through the CDs yet.

Oh this session was amazing! These girls and their sweet personalities paired with the gorgeous glow from the setting sun…I just love these images so much that I wanted to feature them!
