Jordyn | Houston Senior Photographer

Meet Jordyn. She loves photography, music and she babysits for me :) We’ve been planning this session for a long time and I’m so happy that it’s finally done, although, we had so much fun that we may have to do another one “just because”

a girl after my heart

I don’t know about you, but when I was in high school, I can’t recall a single person who had style. And I’m not just talking about wearing certain clothes, shoes, etc…I’m talking about style that sort of runs through your veins. No, we had high waist-ed jeans, hypercolor clothing, and, I do remember doing this high bang thing a little too often. I was talking to a friend about it and she said something that really holds some truth…we just didn’t have awesome stores like we do now. But then, “awesome” is subjective.

Ok, back to the reason for this post…This one, she’s got serious style. I’d emailed her momma to let her know a few suggestions for shopping for their session, but they only needed to go as far as her closet. I think it’s so cool when someone (a young someone) knows who they are, what they love and then embraces it. This girl’s outgoing personality, smarts and character is going to take her to great places!

prom 2010 | Cypress Senior Photography

I don’t really remember my prom. It wasn’t one of the most memorable times in my life, looking back. But, I lived in a small town and it wasn’t anything like the prom around here. These guys get 5 star treatment at one of the swanky hotels in the Galleria. They dine at fabulous restaurants in Houston (oh, Maggiano’s how I love thee – and how my tummy loves your lasagna!) and dance til midnight.

I was asked to take some pre-prom photos for the lovely Chelsea, but her schedule and mine conflicted earlier in the day. So I made the trek down to the Galleria to catch them after dinner and before the dance. Unfortunately, God had other plans because as we waited a huge thunderstorm blew in and we were stuck in Jamba Juice for 30-45 minutes. Side note: if you ever have to get stuck inside, run to Starbucks or The Container Store! Jamba Juice had crazy leaky ceilings. This was our view:

So we decided to head over to the hotel and do a few shots there. Take a peek :)

Kyra | Crosby High School Senior Portraits

Kyra is awesome. She’s got her own style and her own personality and she totally owns it. When her mama booked me for her senior session, I was so pleased to find a story about who Kyra is and what her mother wanted captured. I always say that the best sessions are the ones that are well-prepared and thought out. Kyra wanted something different than all of the other kids at her school. She didn’t want boring barns and horses and fences. She wanted to stand out and so when I suggested a location, even though it was over an hour away from them, it didn’t matter how far it was. So long as it fit who she is and what she wanted for her senior photos!

Take a peek of a few from Kyra’s senior session!

You Have Brains In Your Head | Cypress Senior Photographer

“…You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own.
And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”  – Dr. Seuss

I’m blown away at this girl. From the moment I met her and we got to talking, I was blown away. She is a force. She is smart. She has brains in her head and I believe that those brains are going to take her so many places.

Let me explain…

She has a goal in mind of what she wants her career to be, but she’s not limiting herself to that one thing. She’s pushing further, educating herself more, so that one day, she’ll have options if she ever needs them.

She values herself and believes that the lessons she’s learned in the past (paired with her amazing parents) have helped her understand those values. She knows where she wants to be and she knows what type of people she wants to be with.

She knows God and knows that He has a plan for her and that whatever she’s going through, He’s giving it to her for a reason.

She has a huge heart. She’s loyal to those she loves. She forgives those who’ve hurt her.

She is amazing and I know her parents are so proud.

Her name is Chanel, she’s graduating college in May and she most definitely has brains in her head.
