I love music. I love lyric and rhythm. I love turning my stereo up as loud as I can and belting it out (I have to turn it up so that it will drown out my voice. I was blessed with vision, not vocals). When I was in high school I was at every show that my friends played and my collection of music is varied. I dig me some old school hip hop but swoon for contemporary folk.

I feel like there’s so much lost in most of today’s music. If you listen to the local top 40 station, there’s rarely any music that isn’t about sex or drugs or bling or how many dollas one has. The local rock station is much the same. Now, I’m not doggin’ on all of it, but the trend is that these stations market to the masses. I am not in that category.

When my babies were younger, I didn’t pay much attention to the music I listened to, but once they became old enough to pick out the words, I had to figure something out! Most of the time we listen to Christian music when we’re together and I’m so thankful that they ask for it! I mean, I can only take so much of the Laurie Berkner band. Luckily, I came across this awesome compilation of creative and lovely music that I love just as much as they do. And it’s for a great cause, benefiting SMS.

Now, I skip over track two, only because my 9 and 6 year olds seem to love and laugh at anything that has to do with that topic–you’ll see what I mean:)
