Located in Hockley (Northwest Houston) Boys and Girls Country www.boysandgirlscountry.org has provided a Home for children since 1971 and currently serves up to 88 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 from throughout the Houston area. These are all children from families who can no longer take care of them. Our goal is to provide these children a very caring home where they can feel secure and build skills to become successful adults.
Since Boys and Girls Country does not apply for government grants or United Way funding, over $4.7 million must be raised annually from individuals, corporations, foundations, and special events to provide children a home. In addition, we provide support to over 70 youth who have graduated from high school while at Boys and Girls Country and are in college or trade school.
One of our major special events is Spring Festival (flyer below) which will be held on May 2, 2009. This is an annual event which drew over 3,200 attendees on May 3, 2008 and raised over $510,000. Our goal is to continue to grow this event so that we can in turn provide more services to children needing a home.
